Los Angeles Dodgers rookie sensation Cody Bellinger is having an amazing season but shockingly has never heard of Jerry Seinfeld nor his massively popular hit show in the 90’s.
Bellinger is having an incredible rookie season thus far with 24 home runs and 56 RBIs on just 220 at bats. He is also the first rookie to hit ten home runs in 10 games. Certainly Bellinger had the attention of the baseball world but it was an interview he did that really turned heads.
Bellinger went on ESPN and did an interview with Scott Van Pelt. SVP asked the young Bellinger if he had heard of Jerry Seinfeld. Seinfeld attends Dodgers games and is one of the most successful comedians of all time. The show Seinfeld, however, went off the air when Bellinger was all of maybe 3 years old.
Bellinger responded to the question by saying:
“I’m not going to lie to you I know the name but I couldn’t put a face to the name . . . I don’t really know what he does, man I’m sorry.”
This of course prompted several people including Bellinger’s teammates to poke fun at the 21-year-old phenom with all of the Seinfeld references one could think of.
Naturally, we here at Breaking T had to get in on the fun and came up with a reference of our own to celebrate Bellinger’s amazing season. Check out our latest officially licensed shirt: “Yada Yada Yada Home Runs”. Cody Bellinger might be too young to understand Seinfeld references but the one thing he doesn't miss is hanging curves over the center of the plate!
