About Rickea Jackson

Rickea Velece Jackson, born on March 16, 2001, in Detroit, Michigan, is a rising star in professional women’s basketball, currently showcasing her talent with the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Known for her versatility and scoring ability, Jackson has quickly become a notable player in the league.

Jackson’s basketball journey began at Detroit Edison Public School Academy, where she propelled her team to three consecutive Class C state titles. During her senior year, she averaged 22 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, securing Michigan Miss Basketball honors and participation in prestigious events like the McDonald's All-American Game. With a career total of 1,771 points, she left high school as the program’s all-time leading scorer and was celebrated as one of the best in Michigan's high school basketball history.

She then took her talents to the collegiate level, playing for Mississippi State and later transferring to Tennessee. At Mississippi State, Jackson made an immediate impact, averaging 15.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game as a freshman, which earned her accolades such as Second-team All-SEC and the Gillom Trophy. Her performance peaked in her junior year at Mississippi State with an SEC-best average of 20.3 points per game. After transferring to Tennessee, Jackson continued to dominate, setting a record at the SEC tournament with a 34-point game and earning First-team All-SEC honors as a senior.

Selected fourth overall by the Los Angeles Sparks in the 2024 WNBA draft, Jackson entered the professional arena with high expectations. Her collegiate and early professional performances suggested a promising career ahead in the WNBA.

Off the court, Rickea Jackson engages in community service and has shown leadership through initiatives like the Brown Bag Project, which provides meals to the homeless. Her role as a student leader in this project demonstrates her commitment to making a positive impact beyond basketball.
